How to Escape Holiday Drama #enjoythego

The holidays are such a fun-filled, magical time. With all that fun comes a lot of work. Isn’t it funny how once you become an adult your realize just how much was going on behind the scenes of your childhood to make all that magic happen? With the traditions, the shopping, the school performances, the cards, the family get togethers… come the week before christmas, most adults are pretty worn out. After spending all day getting ready to host the holiday get together, you might just feel too overwhelmed to enjoy it! You know what you need? A break!

I received samples and compensation for this post, all ideas and opinions are my own.

Maybe you are tired of small talk, maybe you can’t remember your husband’s second-cousin’s wife’s sister’s name, maybe you are avoiding an argument, or maybe you just don’t want to help with dishes (am I right?), and maybe you just need a few minutes to re-group! Take a page out of your husband’s book and slip away to the one place NO ONE is allowed to bother you: the bathroom.

Not just any old bathroom, but the sanctuary you have prepared for just this occasion. Here is everything you need to prepare the perfect oasis to escape to:

A candle or scent warmer- I mean, it is a bathroom so make sure this one smells nice! I use a scent warmer for convenience, makes it easy to switch up scents.

Reading material- A great magazine will give you something to take your mind off of everything else going on. Pick a few favorites to stack in a basket or corner.

Luxurious hand soap/lotion- I love a light scent with great moisturizers. A lotion for extra softness goes a long way in helping me relax and unwind in the middle of all the holiday drama.

Plush Hand Towel- No one likes a scratchy towel. Plush hand towel automatically upgrade your bathroom from run of the mill to holiday sanctuary.

Charmin- When it all boils down, the best thing you can add to your bathroom is high quality toilet paper, and lots of it. Just imagine escaping to the bathroom only to find your are out of TP! It seems like a no brainer, but you never know how much your guests will need before you get a chance to escape! 1 Charmin Mega Roll = 4 regular Charmin rolls.

I always make sure that my house is fully stocked with Charmin Ultra Soft Mega Roll Toilet Paper. It is Softer and 75% more absorbent and you can use less vs. the leading bargain brand. With kids around, I am always a fan of using less to get the job done!

Whether you prefer the soft, cushiony, absorbent Charmin Ultra Soft Mega Roll, like my family, or the strength of the Charmin Ultra Strong Mega Roll, know that you can still enjoy your favorite Charmin Toilet Paper, just more of it per roll! More convenient, more value, more long-lasting “go’s” per roll* so you can change the roll less often.

In the midst of all the wonderful holiday chaos, Charmin Mega Rolls truly are the gift that keeps on giving.

I would love to hear about the time you needed to escape during the holidays, tell me in the comments!

Haha! These are really great ideas! I think I will need to have a scent warmer in our bathroom for the holidays!

  2. Dawn Lopez

I’m totally with you on the relaxing and calming scents. Holiday drama is no joke sometimes and anything to soothe the soul is welcome in my home.

  3. Alicia

I like that sign you have hanging up! I need to get one for my boy’s bathroom lol

  4. Ann Bacciaglia

I will have to pick up a wax warmer for my washroom. It is a great way to make sure it stays smelling fresh.

  5. Claudia Krusch

I will have to make sure I stock my bathroom up before the holidays. It can be a perfect spot to escape the holiday drama.

  6. Oriana Romero

I always make sure I have something to read in the bathroom. Sometimes it is nice to just escape for a few minutes. You are right no one bothers me there.

The bathroom is a great place to sneak away to when you need a minute. I like the idea of a scent warmer in the bathroom.

We are a small family so we don’t often have drama but, when we do…. LOL, these are great tips to avoid drama for sure!

  10. Shauna

ha, ha, ha… this is perfect. My family is filled with drama right now, so this is perfect timing. HA! Thanks for sharing

It’s hard to escape when you’re at someones house…but I’ll usually go outside for some fresh air if I need to. I don’t do holidays at my house usually, so it’s easier for me to escape while at others houses haha.

  12. Amy

Nice sign! I feel like I need to make one for my kids to remind them to always wash their hands.

  13. Cyn Gagen

Oh the stories I could tell you. lol Our family is a mix of loud opinionated we-love-big-crowds extroverts and loud oh-please-give-me-my-space opinionated introverts so you can imagine that there are times when we need our space. Great idea to set up the bathroom so you’re ready to take that moment of quiet.

I love this post. As I like to say, “It’s not Christmas until somebody cries.” J/K. But seriously, the holidays can get totally crazy pants.

The holidays definitely bring out the best and worst in many when we get together. Your ideas to escape the drama are so helpful to think about as we go into the peak of the holiday season now.

  16. Reesa Lewandowski

‘Tis the season, right?? It always seems like the week leading up to Christmas is the worst too!

  17. Jeanette

Usually it’s very hard to escape in my house because we have a little warehouse. But if I do need some time to myself typically I will go someplace quiet and just relax.
